A little memo for all my out of state friends: you know how they say California is the land of mild temperatures all year around. Well, they lie. I'll give you the fact that we have mild winters, it never gets below 30 degrees here even at night, but summer is a whole other story.

We're on our ninth day of record heat, Saturday was 113, Sunday was 111, today is 109. They are talking about doing rotating blackouts during the hottest part of the day. *And* they are 'suggesting' that we turn up our air conditioners to the mid 80s or so. Yeah right. I had heat exhaustion earlier this weekend, I'm not about to go through it again, voluntarily.

I think they should just give everyone the day off, that way they can conserve energy and shut down all the offices running today.

And whoever the mysterious "they" are, they can bite me.

End rant.

I lived in San Diego for 6 years so I feel your pain. Summer is definitely when the weather becomes not so predictable.

Adjusting to the weather was weird for me because we relocated from Texas. So while it was hot/warm during the day, it was very chilly at night.

I wish it was chilly at night, we don't even get that right now. On Saturday I was out at one in the morning and it was still at least high 80s or low 90s. Tonight it is still supposed to be in the 90s at nine tonight. My air conditioning bill is going to be massive.

And people ask me why winter is my favorite season.

Sorry to hear you're still suffering too. It finally cooled down a little bit here...it's only 83 inside my place. It's supposed to start gradually cooling off a bit more here. How about you?

My mom says it's been beautiful where she is (she lives not far from my icon pic) and in the low 70s. I think it's probably the only person in the US where it's not uncomfortably hot.

It is about 82 inside my house, but it is at least in the mid 90s outside now. Being inside makes the weather tolerable, but unfortunately the air conditioner has been running since 8 a.m. and hasn't stopped once. I'm almost terrified to see the bill. At this point I'm considering moving to Alaska. I hear it's nice up there. Plus polar bears, so that'd be fun...and eskimos, can't forget the eskimos. ;)

LOL...I've been saying that too (about Alaska). The other thing that sticks in my mind about Alaska is that it's supposed to have more men than women, right? Sounds good to me.
