Okay, so I went to Borders last night and picked up the Superman Returns novel since it was only like six or seven dollars (apparently I'm cheap) along with a couple of Smallville novels. I think the first one was Whodunnit and the second was City, or something like that.

Superman returns was great, which makes me more excited to see the movie next week. There were a couple things that bugged me. Nothing that would constitute spoilers or anything, but mostly it was Lex's characterization. I don't know, maybe I've watched too much Smallville, but I'm so used to a Lex who has real depth and even when he's evil you can kind of understand him and his motives, not that they weren't clear in the book. It's just that in the book Lex is so...comic-booky. Which, I know, makes sense to everyone but me since Superman is first and foremost a comic, but still. It seems like he's just coming up with evil plans just to pass the time, eh maybe it's just me.

As for the other two, I haven't started on City but I'm about five chapters into Whodunnit and well, I'm underwhelmed. It's not bad, but the dialogue seems like it's lacking and I bought it because there was a lot of Lionel and Lex in it, but Lionel seems more like a pain in the ass CEO who gets pissy when the weather's hot than the evil bastard that he is on Smallville. So--disappointed. I can't even really bring myself to find out who the bad guys are, oh well.

That being said, in order to keep my brain from turning to mush over summer break, I need to find some good books to read. At this point I don't even really care what genre, just something different. I think I've read every book I own at least three times by now. But I never know what to buy or what authors are any good. Eh, such is life.
